Waza Flo News Release

(Detroit, MI-December 19, 2010) After an effort that co-head coach Dominic Scicluna called "unacceptable", the Detroit Waza avenged their Saturday night overtime loss by routing the Illinois Piasa 9-4 this afternoon in front of a crowd of 282 at the Taylor Sportsplex.

"We were clicking on all cylinders tonight," said Scicluna. "We needed to get last night off our backs and go into the Christmas break in the right frame of mind. Every one did what they needed to do, and the results showed. It was a hard fought game, a physical one, but a strong one. Illinois played well, and will only get better as the season goes on."

Aaron Byrd led the Waza scoring with two goals, and seven other Waza (4-2) players chipped in a goal each: Nelson Diaz, Niki Djokic, Miki Djerisilo, Rodrigo Gonzalez, Costea Decu, Matt Johnson, and Dan Dragoi.

Jon Fridal lead the Piasa (2-2) scoring with two goals, and Chris Mattingly and Roger Gemoules each lit the lamp once.

Vito Lonigro had a strong night between the pipes for the home team, making 15 saves.

After a two week break for the holidays, the Waza will return to the field on Saturday night, January 8th, when they will travel to Canton to face the Ohio Vortex. The Waza will return home on January 15th, when the Louisville Lightning make their first appearance of the season at the Taylor Sportsplex.

The Detroit Waza are charter members of the Professional Arena Soccer League, which is starting it's third season of play. For more information, visit the team's home page at www.detroitwaza.com or the PASL's official website at www.pasl-pro.com.
