Waza Flo News Release

Detroit Waza will close out its six game road trip this weekend with back-to-back matches against the St. Louis Illusion (7 P.M. Friday) and the Springfield Spirits (6:15 P.M. Saturday).

With an 18 day lay-off following the heartbreaking 9-8 loss to 1790 Cincinnati, the Waza warriors are well rested and ready to get back to work. This weekend presents two more opportunities for the Motor City boys to break into the win column before finally getting the chance to play in front of their home fans at Compuware Sports Arena.

"This weekend is very important for us," said head coach Dominic Scicluna. "It is important that we get points out of this trip so we can go into our home opener with lots of positive momentum."

Taking proverbial points from St. Louis and Springfield this weekend will not be an easy task. The Illusion are lead by St. Louis and indoor soccer legends such as owner and 1984 US Olympic team member Jamie Swanner. Other veterans leading the line for St. Louis are Daryl Doran who has played over 700 professional indoor soccer games and Joe Reiniger who has six goals and five assist in just two games played this season.

The Springfield Spirits are a PASL- Premier team playing four PASL- Pro games to help fill out the schedule. The Spirits are not to be taken lightly, however, as they have a very talented roster. Players such as Neil Wilmerth (Indiana University) and James Dice (St. Louis University) are PASL- Pro caliber players, but do not want to lose their college eligibility.

Itʼs asking a lot of Waza to win both games on the road this weekend, but something needs to be taken from these games so their fans have something to cheer about when they finally take to the carpet next weekend in Detroit.
