Denver Dynamite News Release

12/12/08-The Denver Dynamite hopes to recover from last week's heartbreaking overtime loss to the Colorado Lightning in its first US Open Cup Tournament game this Saturday at 7:15 pm at the Denver Sports Center (5555 W. Evans Ave).

The Open Cup is an ongoing national Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) tournament, in which both professional (PASL-Pro) and their semi-pro "Reserves" teams (PASL-Premier) compete in games throughout the season, culminating with a championship game in March.

"The Open Cup is a chance for Reserves teams to prove they can play with the pros," said co-head coach and player Chris Handsor, who likens the tournament to Britain's FA Cup. "Anybody can win on any given day," he said.

The Dynamite expect fierce competition from the Fury, said Handsor, even though the Fury, as the Colorado Lightning's "Reserves" team, plays at the semi-pro level.

"I think (the Lightning) have a solid base to pull from with the Fury," Handsor said. "It's going to be an exciting game."
