Milwaukee Wave News Release
The Milwaukee Wave opened up a five game road trip in Missouri trying to extend their winning streak to 17 games. That would not be the case as the Wave fell to the Comets 17-9.
The Wave quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Ian Bennett found to net on an assist from Hewerton. Not long after Bennett would put another one in the goal to extend the Wave's lead to 4-0. Although being outshot 9-4 in the quarter the Wave held onto a 4-0 going into the second.
Missouri turned things around in the second quarter as Missouri goalkeeper Danny Waltman kept the Wave scoreless. Leo Gibson scored two goals, the second of which was shorthanded, to tie the match at four, and get Missouri back into the game at halftime.
Things kept going Missouri's way, as about 30 seconds into the third quarter Byron Alvarez scored another Comets goal giving them a 6-4 lead, their first of the game. Milwaukee would answer as Bryan Perez, playing his first game for the Wave, scored his first goal for the team to tie it at 6-6. Near the end of the quarter Mads Falck blasted a shot into the back of the net, giving the Comets an 8-6 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Missouri would make it 10-6 when Byron Alvarez scored his second goal of the game early in the fourth quarter. Further into the quarter Bennett would complete the hat trick with a three point goal, trimming the Wave's deficit to 10-9. Missouri took over from that point with Vahid Assadpour getting in on the scoring making it 12-9. Leo Gibson would then complete a hat trick of his own to push Missouri further ahead 14-9. Assadpour would add another goal to give Missouri a 17-9 win, their second over Milwaukee this season.
Milwaukee will try to rebound tomorrow when they travel to Chicago to take on the Soul at 7 p.m. They next play at home on Saturday March 2nd, at 6 p.m. against the Syracuse Silver Knights.
