Milwaukee Wave News Release

The most exhilarating game the Wave have played in a long time put them in first place with two games remaining in the MISL season. Visit this YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=827LUKqakQQ to see highlights, including two of the most amazing shots you'll see at any level of the sport - one 3-pointer by Greg Howes to put us in the lead, and another by Marcio Leite to extend our advantage to 4 points with under 4 minutes to go.

This week, the Wave have a rematch Friday in Detroit and then host Monterrey on Saturday in the annual Fan Appreciation Game at 6 p.m. We are slated to practice at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the U.S. Cellular Arena, before departing Thursday for Detroit. Players and coaches are available, please call ahead to confirm the practice times.

Possible stories on the Wave this week include:

KINGER'S LAST STAND: Wave legend Michael King has his final regular season game on Saturday. Kinger scored career goal No. 708 - fifth all-time - in Sunday's win. It will be an emotional event for King and the friends and family who will be in attendance.

MVP: If Greg Howes does not win his third award this year, it will be criminal. He's running away with the scoring title, and not just by padding points in meaningless games. He scored 3 goals in a 15-13 win Friday at Philadelphia, including the overtime game-winner, and added 2 more against Detroit on Sunday, including that incredible 3-pointer that gave the Wave the lead for good at 11-8. No pro athlete in Milwaukee history has been as decorated as Howes, and third MVP and fourth league scoring title would cement that status.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Warren Ukah is emerging as the most productive of seven rookies on the roster. A 23-year-old from Atlanta, Ukah has 39 points in 25 appearances and has proved a tremendous find at target forward, a position that was one of need with the season-long injury absence of Todd Dusosky.

TOUGH GUY: If you take a look at Troy Dusosky's knee, you wonder how the guy walks, much less plays pro sports. But in his 13th season in indoor soccer and seventh with the Wave, the defender continues to perform at a high level. He scored his 300th career goal on Saturday, then added two more in Sunday's win. He also leads the team with 25 blocks and provides a veteran presence in the back; the Wave are second in the league in points allowed.

This is the time to come see us before the playoffs begin. We have a bye and won't play at home until April 20, most likely. Hope to see you all this week.
