"LeBron James' talent and charisma combine to make him the one of the biggest sports stars in the entire world," said Matt Schroeder, director of public relations for the Wave. DAVID BECKHAM SIGNS WAVE OF KINDNESS HARLEY-DAVIDSON
World's most recognizable soccer star joins Wave's charity project
MILWAUKEE (Feb. 26, 2008) -- David Beckham.
Of all the active athletes in the world, none moves the needle quite like the handsome Englishman with the pop star wife and the unparalleled ability to curl a soccer ball. He's a one-name icon, one nickname, really - just "Becks," the $250 million man of the Los Angeles Galaxy, the English national team and Hollywood.
Last week in Los Angeles, Beckham autographed the fender on the Milwaukee Wave of Kindness Harley-Davidson. He was joined by Alexi Lalas and Cobi Jones, both former members of the U.S. national team, and other members of the Galaxy.
"We're grateful to Alexi Lalas and the Galaxy for helping arrange this signature for our bike," said Matt Schroeder, director of public relations for the Wave. "This project is all about bringing soccer to a new audience, and nobody's doing that more right now than David Beckham himself."
Beckham's signature puts perhaps the two best-known soccer players of all time together on the bike. Brazilian great Pele signed the bike back on Dec. 1, and they are just two of the more than two dozen individuals to have aided this charity project.
