MISL 2 Milwaukee Wave

Wave Weekly

October 24, 2007 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Milwaukee Wave News Release

Three of the most notable Milwaukee Wave players of the last decade won't be in action when the club opens its 24th season at the Baltimore Blast on Saturday evening.

Johnny Torres retired, Lovelace Ackah is serving a league-imposed three-game suspension for an incident following last year's MISL semifinals and Todd Dusosky continues to rehabilitate an ankle that endured a complicated off-season surgery. Plenty of experience still remains, but some new names - Anthony Maher, Joe Hammes, Marcio Leite and others - must step forward if the Wave hope to claim their fifth championship.

Kickoff Saturday is at 6:35 p.m. from 1st Mariner Arena. The broadcast can be heard over the Internet at www.milwaukeewave.com.

Last Week's Outings: Wave 29, Rebels 4

BROOKFIELD - Greg Howes scored four goals and added an assist before halftime as the Milwaukee Wave defeated the Northern Illinois Rebels of the American Indoor Soccer League 29-4 in an exhibition match Friday night at the Brookfield Indoor Soccer Complex.

The Rebels, a new member of the AISL, hung tough to trail only 6-4 after the first period. Milwaukee ignited the rout when Howes fed Chico, one of the Wave's new Brazilian signees, for a 3-pointer 3 minutes into the second quarter. Two-pointers followed by Marcelo Fontana, Howes, Brett Wiesner and Howes again to give the Wave a 17-4 halftime lead.

Wiesner finished with a hat trick and newcomer Keegan Hudson scored three fourth-quarter goals in less than 2 minutes. Chico scored two goals and Deco one.

Howes just reported to camp last Thursday after a cross-country drive from Seattle, where he won the MVP award in the USL-1 Championship Game. Boris Maric and Jaime Morote scored for the Rebels.
