
Wave Opens Season Defeating Wings 12-4

(Milwaukee, WI) - The Wave kicked off the 2012-2013 season on the road in Wichita defeating the Wings 12-4. Hewerton led the way with two goals on the night. The Wave has defeated the Wings in seven of the eight last regular season meetings over the past two seasons.
The Wave's Nick Perera opened the scoring for the season putting the Wave up 2-0 over the Wings. Hewerton added a goal increasing the Wave's lead to 4-0. The Wings got on the board with a Geison goal cutting the Wave's lead to 4-2. The Wave extended their lead to 6-2 when Jonatan Santos found the back of the net for the only goal of second quarter.
Hewerton scored his second goal of the night in third quarter. The Wave took a 10-2 lead as Jonathan Greenfield added a goal of his own. The Wave was able to fend off a power play as the third quarter ended and the fourth quarter began. The Wing's Geison added his second goal of the game midway through the fourth quarter. The Wave gained their eight-point lead at 12-4 as Giuliano Oliviero struck his first goal of the season.
On November 11th the Wave welcome the Missouri Comets to the U.S. Cellular Arena for the first home game of the season at 3pm at the US Cellular Arena. The Wave will drop the 2012 Championship banner prior to their home opener game.
Fisher House Wisconsin ( www.fisherhousewi.org) is the BMO Harris Bank Jersey Program charity for the home opener. In honor of Veterans Day all veterans and active members of the service will get in free. Sponsoring Sunday's game is Steinhafels, Local 494, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
