(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave announced that it has hired John P. Tull as its new Director of Corporate Development. The South Bend, IN native comes to the Wave organization with more than 15 years of experience in professional sports management including marketing and public relations, corporate advertising sales and promotions, and radio and television advertising sales.
The 39-year old Tull, a graduate of DePauw University (Greencastle, IN) with a Master's Degree in Sports Management from Indiana University, comes to Milwaukee from Fresno, CA where he was the Director of Sports Marketing for KMJ Radio, the flagship station for Fresno State University athletics. During his two seasons with the Falcons (2000-02), Tull was instrumental in helping the Falcons earn two straight WCHL "Organization of the Year" awards as the Fresno club increased revenue by more than 250% during that period.
In addition to his experience at Fresno, Tull has also enjoyed successful stints in professional hockey with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Dayton Bombers. He began his career in minor league baseball with the South Bend White Sox (which later became the Silver Hawks), where he helped the Indiana club become one of the Midwest League's premier franchises while serving as Vice President / General Manager.
Tull, whose wife Laurie Penco Tull is currently a News Anchor / Reporter for KSEE-TV 24 (NBC) in Fresno, is excited about the potential opportunities for the Wave organization which is celebrating its 20th anniversary during the 2003-04 season.
"I look forward to the challenge of enhancing the already existing Milwaukee Wave corporate partnerships while continuing to develop new business," said Tull. "I'm looking forward to working with the Milwaukee corporate community to demonstrate how a partnership with the Wave can augment the growth of other businesses."
"John should be a tremendous addition to our organization," said Wave President / CEO Tim Krause. "His experiences in sports marketing and management make him an outstanding candidate for this position. His creativity and enthusiasm should complement many of the things we are hoping to achieve with both the Wave and Wave United over the next several years."
