Milwaukee Wave News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) Wave Coach Keith Tozer and six of his players returned yesterday (9/20) from a week-long Brazilian tour with the U.S. Futsal Team. The Tozer-led squad featured 13 players from various Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) clubs, including Milwaukee players Todd and Troy Dusosky, Johnny Torres, Pat White, Chris Morman, and Nick Vorberg. Although the U.S. did not record any victories in its exhibition tour, it did gain valuable experience heading into the FIFA Futsal World Championship, November 21-December 5 in Chinese Taipei.
"We were actually the first CONCACAF team to score as many as three goals against the Brazilian Nationals since 1989," said Tozer, who guided the U.S. Squad to the CONCACAF Title in July. "Even though we didn't get any wins, it was an invaluable experience for our players to compete against some of the greatest futsal talent in the world."
The U.S. will take on Italy, Paraguay, and Japan in first round pool play at Chinese Taipei. The top two teams from each of four groups in the 16-team tournament will advance to the single elimination quarterfinals.
The results from the Brazilian tour are listed below:
