Milwaukee, WI (March 26, 2006) - After losing 8-7 in overtime the day before in St. Louis, the Milwaukee Wave returned home, looking to take one back from the first place St. Louis Steamers. It was another closely contested game, but the Wave again lost by one in the end.

The first quarter featured a lot of ball movement, but neither team found the net until Jamar Beasley scored with 4:26 left in the period. The Steamers would hold onto this one goal lead going into the second quarter.

Beasley struck again less than two minutes into the second when Genoni Martinez fed him for a goal. Wave forward Brett Wiesner made a run into the box and scored off a pass from Troy Dusosky at the 12:38 mark to put Milwaukee on the board. With 8:10 left in the period, Steamers forward Michael Apple took a pass from Shaun David for a goal. Less than a minute later, a Wave hand ball in the box gave St. Louis a penalty kick. Defender Genoni Martinez scored, giving St. Louis a three goal lead. Milwaukee defender Matt Schmidt scored off a restart from Troy Dusosky to bring the Wave within two shortly before intermission.

Milwaukee ended the second and began the third quarter on a power play but didn't find the net. At 7:13 Greg Howes beat St. Louis goalkeeper Brett Phillips for a shootout goal to bring the Wave within one. St. Louis retaliated with a power play goal of their own. The Wave would go on to score three unanswered goals for a 6-5 lead. Marcelo Fontana scored off a pass from Eduardo Sebrango, Greg Howes fed Troy Dusosky for a goal and, seconds later, Giuliano Oliviero fed Marcelo Fontana for another tally and Milwaukee's first lead of the day. With ten seconds left in the third, Carlos "Chile" Farias tied the score at six.

After seeing six goals in the third quarter, the teams found the net just onece in the fourth. 6:14 into the fourth, Joe Reiniger fed Mike Apple for his second goal of the game and the final 7-6 margin. Wave defender Matt Schmidt came on as a sixth attacker in the final two minutes, but Milwaukee was unable to even the score and fell 7-6 to the Steamers for the second time in two days. With the win, St. Louis won the regular season title and the number one seed in the playoffs.
