
Wave downs Cougars, 9-2

MILWAUKEE, WI (November 26, 2005) - The Wave scored the first goal for the third straight game and outscored the Cougars 4-0 in the first quarter to build momentum toward their 9-2 victory on Saturday. Chad Dombrowski started the scoring for the Wave at 5:49. Marcelo Fontana followed with his third goal of the season off a Greg Howes pass. Howes (the league's leading goal scorer coming into the game) then tallied his seventh goal of the season off a Todd Dusosky pass. Angel Rivillo closed out the scoring in the quarter by depositing a Giuliano Oliviero pass into the goal at 13:47.
The second quarter opened with the Wave holding off the Cougars for the final minute of a Johnny Torres tripping penalty. The Cougars responded with a penalty kill of their own. Defense would be the theme throughout much of the quarter as Giuliano Oliviero of the Wave scored the quarter's lone goal at 13:02.
In the third quarter the defenses continued to overmatch the offenses until Eduardo Sebrango put a Nick Vorberg pass in the net at 9:57. It was Sebrango's third goal of the season; all have been scored in Milwaukee. Hewerton added another goal at 14:27; Johnny Torres received the assist. The Wave kept the Cougars off the scoreboard in the third quarter and have yet to be scored upon in that frame this season
The fourth quarter saw both teams tally two scores. Aaron Susi broke up the Wave's shutout at 2:47 in the fourth quarter. Greg Howes followed with his second goal of the game and shortly after that Giuliano Oliviero's second goal of the game marked the 300th of his career.
Notes: The Wave's first seven goals were scored by seven different players. Last week all six of the Wave's goals were scored by different players...Todd Dusosky has five assists in his last two games...The Wave has scored the opening goal in their last three games and have outscored opponents 12-2 in the first quarter this season. In the first half the Wave has outscored opponents 16-4.
The next Wave game will be on Saturday, December 3 at 1:00 p.m. against the St. Louis Steamers.
