Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE (Feb. 18, 2008) -- Though the Milwaukee Wave are in first place in the MISL by a full game, Head Coach and Vice President of Soccer Operations Keith Tozer already set to work on next year's roster last week by acquiring two players in a trade with the New Jersey Ironmen.
The Wave acquired Jacek Przednowek, a forward from Robert Morris University, and Travis McKenzie, a midfielder from Duquesne University, and sent defender/forward Ibrahim Kante to New Jersey. Przednowek and McKenzie were chosen by New Jersey in January's MISL College Draft. Milwaukee also will receive future considerations.
Przednowek is a two-time All-Northeast Conference first-team pick and led the NEC in 2007 with 15 goals and 34 points. He finished second in the nation in goals, averaging 0.83 per game, and was third in the nation in points, averaging 1.89. To cap off a sensational career, he tallied the 14th-fastest hat trick in NCAA history, using just 16:20 to score three goals in a 3-all deadlock with Mount St. Mary's.
Przednowek, a native of Brantford, Ontario, is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 170 pounds. He was New Jersey's first-round selection.
MacKenzie hails from Carnegie, Pa., and led Duquesne in scoring each of his last three seasons. He was first-team All-Atlantic 10 as a sophomore and junior and second-team as senior. He had six goals and eight assists (20 points) as a junior and five goals and four assists (14 points) as a senior.
"Both Travis and Jacek are two players I really wanted to draft," Tozer said. "Because we were picking so low, New Jersey was able to select them first. I'm extremely happy we were able to get both players back."
Przednowek and MacKenzie both will be in Milwaukee during their spring breaks to train with the team.
Kante's rights had belonged to Milwaukee but he had not played for the Wave. He has MISL experience with Baltimore, the St. Louis Steamers and Kansas City Comets.
The Wave (15-7) lead Detroit by one game in the standings and play their next three games at home, beginning at 2 p.m. March 2 against the California Cougars.
