June 10, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave, a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that it has acquired forward / midfielder Lee Edgerton from the Cleveland Force in exchange for forward Sipho Sibiya and the rights to midfielder Gary DePalma. Sibiya, who spent last season with the St. Louis Steamers, was acquired in a separate deal in which Milwaukee traded forward Joe Reiniger to the Steamers.
The 30 year-old Edgerton comes to Milwaukee following five seasons with Cleveland, where he tallied 80 goals and 56 assists for 136 points in 128 career regular season games. The 5-10, 175 lb. Merced, CA native appeared in all 36 regular season contests last season, finishing with 23 goals and 15 assists for 38 points to tie him with Hector Marinaro as the team's scoring leader. Prior to his stint with Cleveland, the former Universtiy of South Florida star spent four seasons with the Sacramento Knights of the World Indoor Soccer League (WISL), where he recorded 26 goals and 14 assists for 40 points in 71 career regular season outings.
"We're very excited about acquiring Lee," said Wave Coach / Milwaukee Vice-President of Soccer Operations Keith Tozer. "I've been very impressed with his ability and work rate, not only with Cleveland but more recently with the U.S. National Futsal Team. His ability to play as a target or in the midfield will help us fill the gap with Joe Reiniger's departure."
Reiniger concludes his four-year career in Milwaukee with one championship ring (2000-01) and four consecutive championship series appearances. The 33-year old Collinsville, IL native appeared in 33 regular season games this past season, finishing 3rd on the team and 13th in the league with 28 goals and 17 assists for 45 points. He also added two assists in four playoff games. The former SIU-Edwardsville star ends his Wave career among Milwaukee's all-time regular season leaders in goals (4th with 162), assists (6th with 105), and points (4th with 267). He returns to St. Louis, where he spent his first seven seasons before arriving in Milwaukee.
"Joe did a tremendous job for us during the time he was here but he indicated he would like to finish his career in St. Louis," said Tozer. "We feel this is a good deal and we wish him nothing but success with the Steamers."
