
Watertown Holds off Glens Falls for First Win of 2012

Power bats and a big defensive play in the ninth lead Watertown (1-1) past Glens Falls (0-2) 8-7.
Danny Brennan (Saint Louis) got it going got the Golden Eagles in the top of the first with a Home Run off of Wizards pitcher Anthony Magovney (Buffalo). Magovney struggled on the night, going just 3 innings and giving up 4 runs.
On the other side, Ryan Peterson (Yavapai) wasn't much better. The righty gave up two homeruns in the first inning. First, a 3-run jack to Cole Gleason (Wabash Valley CC) and a solo shot to Christian Hickman (Alcorn St.). Gleason went 3-4 and fell just a triple away from the cycle. He wasn't the only player flirting with the feat, Kevin Meyers (NE Oklahoma A&M) was a double short.
The play of the game, however, came on defense. In the top of the ninth inning with Brandon Matthews (Yavapai) pinch-running for Chase Griffin (Georgia Southern) at first, Mike Vigliarolo (Saint Louis) hot the game in right/center field. Second-baseman Chris Glynn (UW-Parkside) snagged the relay throw and hit Edgardo Sala who made the tag at the plat to end the game.
Watertown head on the road to Mohawk Valley and Elmira before returning to the Duff Sunday against Newark.
