Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - For the third straight week and fourth week this season, a Washington Stealth player has earned a weekly award in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Peter Morgan is the most recent winner, being named the NLL's Transition Player of the Week after his five-point performance in the Stealth's 12-9 victory over the Minnesota Swarm on February 5.
Morgan scored two goals and added three assists to go along with four loose balls as the Stealth improved their record to 6-0 last weekend. Morgan's first goal of the night came with just 16 seconds remaining in the first half, and gave the Stealth a 6-5 lead at the halftime break. His second goal was the final goal of the game that gave the Stealth a 12-9 lead. He also assisted on what proved to the game-winning goal, a transition tally from Mike Grimes with less than twelve minutes left in the fourth quarter. That goal capped a 3-0 run that put the Stealth in the lead for the remainder of the game.
Morgan, who was primarily an offensive player in his previous nine NLL seasons, has made the move to transition in his first season with the Stealth. While the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder has been a force on the defensive end of the floor, he has still managed to make an impact offensively with a.454 shooting percentage, five goals and eight assists in five games played. He also has 22 loose balls on the season.
Other weekly award winners for the Stealth include Paul Rabil, who won the Transition Player of the Week in weeks one and three, Lewis Ratcliff who was Offensive Player of the Week in week three and Jeff Zywicki who was Offensive Player of the Week in week four.
The Stealth is on the road February 13, when they take on Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. The opening face-off is scheduled for 5:35pm PST and can be seen live on the NLL Network at NLL.com.
