ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 10) -- Goaltender Matt "VNO" Vinc was named "Defensive Player of the Week," today by the National Lacrosse League.

Vinc, 3-1 as a starter this season, limited the Colorado Mammoth to a franchise-record low five goals during the Orlando Titans 12-5 win last Friday night in Denver. Vinc stopped 47 of 52 shots overall (.904) save percentage. He was so dominant that he allowed just two goals in the first 55:18 of the game - stopping 47 of 49 shots. Only after Colorado pulled its goalie and had a "man-up" advantage for the rest of the game were the Mammoth able to break through and score three goals in the final minutes.

For the season, Vinc's 8.55 goals against average, 38.5 saves per game and.819 save percentage all rank second in the league. "VNO is an incredible goal keeper and has played a huge role in our early success," Head Coach Ed Comeau said. "Last week's game in Colorado was possibly the best regular season effort we have had and a lot of credit for that goes to VNO and our defenseman."

Other players honored by the league include Blaine Manning of the Toronto Rock (Offensive and Overall Player of the Week), Washington's Peter Morgan (Transition Player of the Week) and Toronto's Stephan Leblanc (Rookie of the Week).

Orlando returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 20 against the Boston Blazers at Amway Arena.
