Washington Stealth News Release

The National Lacrosse League announced its All-Rookie Team today and Washington Stealth defenseman Matt Beers was among those honored for their performance in the 2010 regular season. It is the second straight season at least one Stealth player has earned All-Rookie honors.

Beers was the 13th overall selection for the Stealth in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. The 20-year old, Coquitlam, B.C., native immediately made an impact on the floor for the Stealth. Using his 6'3", 205-pound frame, Beers punished opposing forwards on a nightly basis. He finished with ten points in 15 games this season on two goals and eight assists. He also grabbed 90 loose balls, good for fifth on the Stealth and tops for NLL rookies. His 67 penalty minutes ranked fourth in the league.

Last season, Stealth forward Rhys Duch won the Rookie of the Year award and was joined on the All-Rookie team by teammates Paul Rabil and Tyler Richards.

The NLL also announced the 2010 Rookie of the Year today, going to Toronto Rock forward Stephen Leblanc. Leblanc and the Rock will face Beers and the Stealth in the NLL Championship Game on May 15 at the Comcast Arena at Everett.
