Washington Stealth Makes Pair of Roster Moves Prior to Game in Toronto
March 1, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth has announced a pair of roster moves as the team prepares for this weekend's game in Toronto. The Stealth has signed free agent goaltender Kevin Croswell and activated defenseman Justin Salt from the practice roster, both moves pending approval by the National Lacrosse League.
The Stealth (1-6) has struggled to start the 2012 season, due in large part to a rash of injuries. The team's starting goaltender, Tyler Richards will miss his second straight game this weekend in Toronto.
Croswell, 26, has been added to the Stealth roster to add some veteran experience and stability to the goaltender position. Croswell has played five NLL seasons, most recently with the Edmonton Rush to start the 2012 season. In 2011 with the Minnesota Swarm, he appeared in four games, recording a .795 save percentage. In his career, the Peterborough, Ontario native has posted an 11.63 goals against average and .773 save percentage in 943 minutes.
"Kevin is a guy we've looked at before because we have confidence he will fit in our defensive systems," said Stealth Head Coach Chris Hall. "He's a big body that blocks outside shots well. He knows what it takes to play in this league and has shown in the past that he can excel when given the opportunity."
Moving from the practice squad to the active roster is rookie Justin Salt. Salt, a left-handed defenseman, was the Stealth's sixth round pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. He played three seasons with the Salmonbellies Junior 'A' squad and in 2011 showed his knack for scoring with 48 points (15g, 33a) in 27 games.
To make room on the Stealth's active roster, the team has moved rookie goaltender Chris Seidel to the practice roster and released transition player Nenad Gajic.
The Stealth takes on the Toronto Rock Saturday, March 3 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The game is scheduled to start at 4:00pm PST and can be seen on the NLL Network at NLL.com.
