Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, March 1)... The Rochester Knighthawks will kick off its fundraising efforts for CURE Childhood Cancer Association on Thursday, March 15th at Scotland Yard. That evening, fans can meet BEE Morning Coffee Club host Jeremy Newman, members of the Knightingales Dance Team and local sports legends as they raise money for CURE at the restaurant located at 187 St. Paul Street.
"We are so excited to play a part in this and raise money for such a great cause! The partnership that we have built with the Knighthawks has been a beneficial one and we encourage everyone to come and help us raise money," said Scotland Yard Owner Nancy Geraci. "I have heard that Jeremy is the Tom Cruise of cocktail making, so I am excited to see what he can do and how much he can raise for the event."
From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., fans can bid on autographed memorabilia, jerseys and tickets from the local sports teams. Newman will raise money for CURE along with members of the dance team from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Amerks and Knighthawks Hall of Famer Jody Gage will work the second shift from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Fans can also meet Knighthawks Alumni and former NHL Coach of the Year Ted Nolan. As an added bonus, make sure to stop out to watch NCAA Basketball tournament games.
"The Knighthawks have always been supportive of our services, raising over $20,000 to support our families and our programs," said CURE Executive Director Brian Wirth.
Scotland Yard Pub, which is located on Saint Paul Street, is a red-bricked, old-fashioned restaurant that can best be described as a traditional English Style Pub and Restaurant with a distinct twist that makes it Rochester's own. The food is what makes the establishment unique, offering wood fire gourmet pizzas and their very own Asian inspired dragon wings. After 5:00 p.m., free parking is available in the lot at 191 Bittner, which is the next street over from St. Paul (right off the inner loop in the Kovalski Carr parking lot across from the church).
"Legends Night" is one of a quartet of events to benefit CURE, which will also include the Annual Teddy Bear Auction. On Saturday, March 24th, fans can bid on bears made by the players at the home game and online, courtesy of GobuyRochester.com. The auction ends at midnight on Monday, April 2nd. CURE is dedicated to improving the lives of families coping with childhood cancer or chronic blood disorders by providing emotional, educational and financial assistance.
The Knighthawks will travel to play the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, March 3rd at the Wells Fargo Center at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
