Washington Spirit Appoint Cay Young as Vice President of Revenue

Washington, D.C. - The Washington Spirit has named Cay Young as the club's new Vice President of Revenue. Working closely with President of Business Operations Emma May, Young will lead revenue generating functions including corporate partnerships, ticketing, merchandise, licensing and new revenue stream generation.

"Given her experience and success, particularly in women's sports, Cay is the perfect person to lead our revenue team as we continue to move forward with Michele Kang's bold vision for the club," said May. "She brings a relentless drive to accomplish our big goals and we will be considerably better with her."

Young joins the Spirit from esports and global gaming company Evil Geniuses where she served as the Director of Partnership Sales. In this role, she identified, negotiated, secured and executed partnerships with global brands. Young created fully integrated and authentic brand campaigns to resonate with consumers while emphasizing the goal of creating an esports and gaming community for all. Her revenue-generating expertise will be instrumental as the club enters a new phase and continues to rebuild.

"The mission and vision that Michele and Emma have set for this organization are truly exceptional, and I look forward to achieving big goals together," said Young. "As we take the pitch at Audi Field this season, I hope to see the city rally around these amazing women, and I challenge the brands supporting men's teams in the District to show equitable financial investment in the women of the Washington Spirit."

Prior to Evil Geniuses, Young was a key team member of the Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA) Los Angeles Sparks leadership team as the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. Under her direction, the Sparks led WNBA sponsorship revenue in 2018 and 2019 while generating a 58% year-over-year revenue increase from 2018 to 2019. Young negotiated, managed and executed the four largest deals in the team's history under the current ownership group including the EquiTrust Life Insurance partnership, Anthem Blue Cross, the LA County Department of Public Health and the LA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs & the Department of Mental Health. Prior to the Sparks, she served as Director of Sponsorship, Administration and Marketing for Angelstone Tournaments and founded Equestrian Sport Management, a marketing agency for equestrian athletes and venues.
