Akwesasne Warriors News Release
The Akwesasne Warriors rode a 5 goal 8 point performance by Luc Mazerolle to defeat the visiting Rome Frenzy. Carter Trevisani had 1 goal and 4 assists, Miguel Delisle had 2 goals and 3 assists, Ahmed Mahfouz had 1 goal and 3 assists to help lead the Warriors to an 11-8 victory before 377 at the Anowarakowa Arena on Cornwall Island.
Akwesasne took the lead early in the game with a goal by Miguel Delisle with 1:18 gone in the first. Rome quickly came back with three goals in less than 2 minutes to make it a 3-1 hockey game. Martin Beaulne brought the Warriors within one goal at the five minute mark. Martin Beaulne is currently riding an 18 game point streak. Luc Mazerolle had two goals in the first and Pat Deraspe scored on a shorthanded breakway to make the score 5-3 for the Warriors to finish off the first period.
Carter Trevisani mad it 6-3 with a goal in the second. Luc Mazerolle completed his hat trick mid way through the second and added two more goals in the third period to give him a record 8 points in a single game which ties Pierre Dagenais record for 5 goals and 3 assists which was set against the same Rome Frenzy on opening night back in October.. David Plouffe got the win, stopping 31 of 39 shots.
The Akwesasne Warriors take on the 1000 Islands Privateers tomorrow night at the Anowarakowa Arena @7pm.
