Michigan Warriors take 1st game of a key 2-game series with Johnstown 3-1.
A 3-1 victory over the visiting Johnstown Tomahawks at Perani Arena tonight, has the Michigan Warriors with a 2-point hold of 2nd place in the NAHL's North Division with a month to play in the regular season.
After Johnstown's Tanner Barnes (3) opened the scoring in the 1st Period at the 7:33 mark, it looked as though the Tomahawks were going to head into the 2nd period leading, but T.J. Stuntz (11) poked a bouncing puck between the legs of Johnstown's goaltender Alex Okicki with 12.6 seconds on the clock in period number one to tie the contest.
The Warriors then moved in front to stay as A.J. Marcinek (9) scored at the 17:41 mark of the 2nd Period. Nick Mosher (3) scored an insurance goal for Michigan in the 3rd denting the twine at the 3:34 mark, to close out scoring in the game.
Goaltender Robbie Beydoun picked up his 5th win in 6 games for Michigan by stopping the remaining 23 shots the Tomahawks fired on net, while Alex Okicki took the loss for Johnstown.
The Warriors and Tomahawks close out their regular season meetings, on Saturday night at 7PM at Perani Arena, in the 2nd game of the weekend series.
