Warriors Rally to Top Port Huron

Bryce Van Horn of Port Huron scored a hat-trick for the Fighting Falcons, but it wasn't enough as the Michigan Warriors rallied to a 5-4 victory, in the home-opener for the Warriors at Perani Arena and Event Center.

The Warriors out-shot Port Huron in the contest and held the lead for most of the game, before Austin Romzek's goal at the 5:26 mark of the third period, placed Port Huron out front on the scoreboard, 4-3.

A.J. Marcinek's short-handed tally tied the contest at the 9:18 mark of the Third Period, and Zack Szainer's goal at 15:39 put the Warriors out front for good.

Goaltender Trevor Gorsuch was strong in net for the Warriors facing a barrage of Port Huron shots, many from point-blank range, in the final period.

Port Huron lead's the NAHL North Division standings despite last night's loss, with 11 points. Michigan is tied with Springfield, and the Soo, for 2nd place in the North standings with 6 points each.

The Warriors and Port Huron continue the weekend home-and-home series with a game tonight in Port Huron.

The next Michigan Warriors home game is Wednesday Oct 9, 2013 as the Warriors play host to I-69 rivals the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.
