Warriors down Jets 5-1 to take 2-game lead in First Round NAHL playoff action

The Michigan Warriors took control of their First Round NAHL Playoff series against the Janesville Jets Saturday night at Perani Arena and Events Center posting a 5-1 victory to take a 2-game lead over the Jets in the Best-of-Five series.

Zack Szajner (1, 2) scored twice, once on the PP, while also picking up an assist, to lead the Warrior goal scorers. Michigan also got goals from Connor Lyons (1), Colin Horton (1), and Tyler Groat (1). Lyons and Groat also picked up assists in the contest to have multiple-point games.

The Jets lone tally came off the stick of Alex Smith (1) in the 2nd period.

The Warriors outshot Janesville 33-29 in the victory. For Michigan, Trevor Gorsuch stopped 28 Janesville shots to pick up his 2nd win in the series, for Janesville Brock Kautz made 28 saves on 33 Warriors shots in a losing effort.

The series now moves to Janesville on Friday night for Game 3, with Game 4 (if necessary) on Saturday night in Janesville as well. Should the series need a deciding Game 5, it would be played at Perani Arena on Monday April 14, 2014 at 7:00 PM.
