January 3, 2014 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Western New York Flash News Release
Elma, N.Y. (Friday, January 3, 2014) - Familiar faces Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd will be returning to the U.S. Women's National Team as head coach Tom Sermanni has called 28 players into January's training camp. The camp will run from Jan. 8-15 and will be held at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center in Carson, Calif.
The camp, which will consist of six full days of training, will be the final event before Sermanni chooses a roster for the first match of 2014, taking place on Jan. 31 against Canada at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Kickoff for the match is 9 p.m. ET and it will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
Both Wambach and Lloyd have been staples for the USWNT and will look to lead the Americans toward a successful 2014, which happens to be the 30th anniversary of the women's side.
On Friday morning it was announced that the two players will both be returning to Western New York for a second season, as they represent the two USA allocations for the NWSL club.
