Elma, N.Y. (Friday, January 3, 2014) - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) has announced the official list of allocated players for the 2014 NWSL season, and the Western New York Flash have been allocated Canadian international Selenia Iacchelli.

In addition, the Flash will remain with just two allocated Americans in Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd, while Veronica Perez will return as the team's lone Mexican international.

Iacchelli, 27, earned her first appearances with the full Canadian National Team in 2013. Selenia debuted as a second half substitute on November 24, 2013 in Canada's 0-0 draw with Mexico. She later saw time in three more games, totaling 20 minutes with the full national team.

Before that, the Edmonton native was a member of both the Under-23, Under-20 and Under-19 squads. Her first international appearance came with the U23 team in 2003, where she totaled 30 minutes at age 17. A year later, Iacchelli was a member of the CONCACAF gold-medal winning U19 team and posted 222 minutes in six games played. Two years later, the midfielder scored her first goal during the CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship in a 2-1 win over Jamaica.

Iacchelli is a 2009 product of the University of Nebraska. In her four years with the Cornhuskers, she posted nine goals and nine assists. In her first three seasons, all 61 appearances came in the form of starts, before battling through a foot injury during her senior year. In her last season at Nebraska, Iacchelli participated in 16 games, including starts in the final five games of the year.

A total of 50 allocated National Team players will be participating in the upcoming season with 26 Americans, 16 Canadians and eight Mexicans.

In addition to the returning allocated National Team players, there are 11 newly allocated National Team players that are now spread among the nine clubs including five Americans (Yael Averbuch, Stephanie Cox, Whitney Engen, Meghan Klingenberg and Christen Press), four Canadians (Jonelle Filigno, Rachel Quon, Chelsea Stewart and Melissa Tancredi) and two Mexicans (Jackie Acevedo and Arianna Romero).

U.S. Soccer is subsidizing the salaries of 26 players, while the Canadian Soccer Association and the Federation of Mexican Football will do the same for 16 and eight players, respectively.

From Jan. 3-6, the NWSL will have a league-wide "trade period" during which all NWSL teams may make trades throughout the four days. However, teams will not be allowed to waive players currently on their roster until after the NWSL Expansion Draft.
