Walleye Invite Five Players to Training Camp from Free Agent Tryouts

(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye have extended training camp offers to five players that participated in the Free Agent Tryout Camp on August 14 & 15 at the Huntington Center.

Forwards Anthony Iaquinto and Bryan Potacco along with defensemen Alex Contis and Calvin Northam and goaltender Frederic Ettedgui were all invited to the 2010 Toledo Walleye Training Camp. Potacco, Northam and Ettedgui have accepted the invitation and will attend training camp. The first on-ice practice is scheduled for Friday, October 1st at the Huntington Center.

Walleye Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Nick Vitucci said, "This year's talent pool was a pleasant upgrade from last year's camp. I credit the players for showing up in great condition and with a very high competition level."

Will Attend Walleye Training Camp

27-year-old goaltender Frederic Ettedgui (6'0" 160 lbs.) has played for the Brossard Broncos (Senior A), the Harrington Snipers (ASHL A,) and the Monteregie Hunters (IHL AA), with whom he won the best goaltender award. He also played for the South Stars (IHL AAA) All-Stars (4 on 4 challenge/LHJMQ/Junior AAA) and won Goaltender of the tournament. Ettedgui is from Candiac, Quebec, Canada.

22-year-old forward Bryan Potacco (5'10", 180 lbs.) is from Kinnelon, New Jersey. He played two seasons (29 games) at Bowling Green State University (2008-10) and two seasons for the St. Michaels Buzzers (2006-08) in the OPJHL.

22-year-old defenseman Calvin Northam (6'7", 225 lbs.) played two years for the Riddley College hockey team and two years in the GMHL (Junior A). He currently resides in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.

Will Not Attend Walleye Training Camp

Alex Contis (22) resides in Calabasas, CA and played from 2005-2007 with Tilton Prep (Division I NEPSHL) and then from 2007-2009 with Hobart College (NCAA-ECAC West).

Anthony Iaquinto (20) resides in Southfield, MI and played AAA hockey in the Detroit area from squirts to midget major for Compuware, Honeybaked and Belle Tire. He played for the London Knights in 2007 (OHL) and various teams in the NAHL (North American Hockey League) from 2008-10.

The Walleye open their 2010-11 ECHL season on Friday, October at Wheeling, WV versus the Wheeling Nailers. The home opener is set for Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 pm at the Huntington Center versus the Wheeling Nailers. Call 419-725-WALL or log onto www.toledowalleye.com for tickets.
