Salt Lake Bees News Release

Chad Wallach and Kean Wong both hit go-ahead, two-run home runs to power the Salt Lake Bees to a 6-5 win over the Reno Aces Saturday night. The Bees broke a three-game losing streak and improved to 33-38 on the season. It was the first time the Bees have won a game when trailing after the seventh inning this season.

Wong finished 2-for-4 with the game-winning home run and Wallach went 1-for-3 with a home run, a sacrifice fly, and three RBI. Jake Palomaki, Matt Thaiss, and Magneuris Sierra each had two hits apiece in the win and Thaiss scored three runs.

The Bees' bullpen had a stellar outing once again, giving up just one hit in 2.2 innings of relief work. Zack Weiss picked up the win and Gerardo Reyes put together his fourth save of the season.

Reno scored first in the top of the second and Salt Lake answered right back in the bottom of the inning on a Palomaki RBI-single. Wallach hit his two-run blast in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the Bees up 3-1.

The Aces tied the game with two runs in the sixth and then took a 5-3 lead in the seventh inning. In the bottom of the eighth, Wallach brought home Jack Mayfield with a sacrifice fly and Wong immediately followed with his first home run of the season to give the Bees the 6-5 win.

Salt Lake will try to earn the series split with Reno tomorrow in the series finale at 1:05 p.m.
