
Voyagers Receive First Weekly League Honor

Great Falls, MT - The Pioneer League of Professional Baseball has named Great Falls Voyagers LHP Avery Weems the Pitcher of the Week for July 22nd through July 28th.
Avery Weems won his only start for the week at home against Idaho Falls this past Friday. The 22-year-old Flagstaff, Arizona native worked five scoreless innings and allowed only two hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Since being promoted from the AZL White Sox in early July, Weems is 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA in four starts for Great Falls. He went 1-1 in four starts with a 0.69 ERA in the AZL to begin his professional career after the White Sox drafted him in the 6th round in June. Weems pitched for two seasons at the University of Arizona after starting his college career at Yavapai College.
Great Falls plays a three-game series at home against Billings starting Monday night at 7 p.m. The Voyagers then hit the road for three at Missoula before the four-day all-star break starts on Sunday. For ticketing information, visit www.gfvoyagers.com or phone 406-452-5311.
