July 7, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Great Falls Voyagers News Release

After a rainout Sunday and an off day on Monday, the Voyagers return to action tonight, as they kick-off play against the South Division with the opener of a three-game series against the Idaho Falls Chukars.

___

Great Falls Voyagers (9-6) vs. Idaho Falls Chukars (6-13)

RHP Evin Einhardt (0-1, 5.52) vs. RHP Todd Eaton (1-1, 7.47)

7:00 p.m. - Centene Stadium (Great Falls, Mont.)

RODRIGUEZ HR LIFTS GF

Back on Saturday, the Voyagers rode an Antonio Rodriguez homer and strong pitching to a 4-2 win over Missoula. Rodriguez put Great Falls in front in the bottom of the first, blasting a three-run homer to put the Voyagers up 3-0. The only other Great Falls run of the night came in the fifth as Jake Jarvis singled to collect his team-leading 16th RBI. Four runs were enough for a Voyagers pitching staff that was strong all night. Zack Erwin gave up one run in three innings in his first pro start, while Brandon Magallones delivered four scoreless innings with a career-high five strikeouts before Lucas Shearrow worked the last two frames to earn his first pro save.

ASCENDANT ANTONIO

With his three-run homer Saturday, outfielder Antonio Rodriguez homered for the second straight game, and the third time this season. The 20-year old is now tied for the team lead in homers with Louis Silverio, who was promoted last week. Rodriguez now has 5 RBIs over the last two games, and is second on the club with 11 batted in.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY

For the fourth time thus far this season, the Voyagers had a game affected by weather as their series finale against Missoula was rained out Sunday afternoon. So far in 2015, Great Falls has had a game delayed by more than an hour due to rain, had two games postponed, and another game suspended. Because Sunday's game was the final scheduled meeting between the Voyagers and the Osprey at Centene Stadium in the first half, it will be made up in Missoula as part of a doubleheader on July 24. The two teams will start the double dip at 5:00 at Ogren Park Allegiance Field with Great Falls serving as the home team for the first of the evening's two seven-inning contests.

ON DECK: IDAHO FALLS

The Voyagers continue their extended homestand tonight with their first meeting of 2015 with the Idaho Falls Chukars. Today marks the beginning of 14 games in a row against the PL South for Great Falls, with seven each against Idaho Falls and the Ogden Raptors. The Voyagers took five of the seven meetings with the Chuakrs in 2014.
