GF BLASTS PAST GJ
After leading early on 4-0, Great Falls found themselves trailing 6-4 heading into the ninth, but used the long ball to turn things around. Louie Lechich started the inning with a solo homer cutting the lead to one. The Voyagers had a runner on and were down to their last out when Tyler Shryock singled to keep it alive for Mason Robbins. Robbins drilled a line drive homer to right to complete the comeback and give Great Falls the lead back at 8-6. Alex Powers then retired the Rockies in order in the bottom of the ninth to seal the win.
HUNTER JONES RETURNS
In his first game since July 20, Voyager outfielder Hunter Jones returned to the lineup last night, going 1-3 at the plate and playing four innings defensively in left field. His presence was felt immediately at the top of the order, as he started the game with a double, moved over to third on a Grand Junction error, and then scored the Voyagers first run on a wild pitch.
THE SAN DIEGO CONNECTION
University of San Diego products Dillon Haupt and Louie Lechich have been leading the way offensively so far for Great Falls on this road trip. A 2013 draftee, Haupt set a new career-high with four hits Thursday night, and is 9-17 with two homers and four runs batted in on the trip, while Lechich is 7-17 on the trip, including a career-high tying three hits and three runs scored on Wednesday. A 2014 draft pick of the White Sox, Lechich has homered twice on the trip, and scored seven times.
WALSH PROMOTED
Great Falls reliever Connor Walsh was promoted to Low-A Kannapolis Saturday, after making 15 appearances for the Voyagers this year. The righty was 1-1 with a 2.66 ERA and two saves in those 15 outings, and compiled 23 strikeouts in 20.1 innings. The former Cincinnati Bearcat did not allow a run in his final six outings for the Voyagers (10.1 IP).
