Great Falls Voyagers News Release

MISSOULA - The Great Falls Voyagers (4-3) battled back late but failed to catch the Missoula Osprey (3-4) and fell 8-7 Sunday evening at Ogren Park Alligiance Field in Missoula. All three games in Missoula were one-run contests, but Missoula won the series two out of three. The Voyagers loss combined with a loss by the Millings Mustangs kept the Voyagers at one game out of first place.

Missoula scored first in the bottom of the second inning when Tyler Bream doubles and scored on a Justin Bianco sacrifice fly. The 1-0 lead held until the fourth when Osprey starter Chris Pack (2-0) walked Micah Johnson and Kyle Robinson and Brent Tanner hit his second home run of the season for a 3-1 Voyager lead. The Voyagers drew seven walks in the game off Missoula pitchers. The Osprey got one back in the bottom half before Johnson and Robinson picked up RBI in the fifth for a 5-2 Voyagers lead. Voyager starter Thomas Royse got several weak grounders in the fifth, but the Osprey dribblers and bloops kept finding holes, and the game was tied 5-5.

Ryan Bollinger (1-1) entered the game in the sixth and Ty Linton led off with a home run to left field for a 6-5 Osprey lead. Missoula added two more runs off Bollinger in the seventh for an 8-5 Osprey lead. With reliever Mike Blake on the hill, Kyle Robinson hit a single and Yoandy Barroso, who pinch-hit for Abe Ruiz in the fifth, belted his first home run of the season to cut the deficit to one. The Voyagers put two runners on with one out, but reliever Chris Capper induced an inning ending double play to end the rally. Adam Heisler knocked one os his three hits to start off the ninth innings, but another inning ending double play ended the game 8-7.

The Voyagers now return how to start a week-long series versus the Billings Mustangs. The first two games are on Monday and Tuesday at 7 PM at Centene Stadium. Monday night is McDonalds We Win You Win Night and MT Angus Beef Night when all burgers are $2. Tuesday night is Taco Johns Taco Tuesday and Rocky Mountain Sleep Disorder Clinic is handing out Voyager mini-bats to the first 500 fans in attendance.
