SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Memphis RiverKings fans have two more days to answer the question as to whether the team should change its name. The deadline is midnight on Saturday, June 30 for fans to cast their vote if they have not already. The results will be announced at a scheduled 2pm news conference at the DeSoto Civic Center on Monday, July 2. The voting results will decide what the RiverKings' name will be beginning with the 2007-2008 season.

The question that has been posed to RiverKings fans since early June has been: "Should the RiverKings remain the ‘Memphis RiverKings' or change the name to ‘DeSoto RiverKings'; ‘Mid-South RiverKings'; ‘Mississippi RiverKings' or ‘Southaven RiverKings."

"We are excited that the voting process is wrapping up and that we will announce a winner on Monday," RiverKings Director of Business Operations Dave Mattice said.

Mattice admits that the process hasn't been without a glitch or two.

"There have been some technical issues with our website host Infinity that were out of our control," Mattice said. "The last couple of days, the vote totals and results from just those days became visible when they were not supposed to. Fans can be assured that all of the votes that were cast before, during and after that glitch, will be in the final totals."
