Miami FC News Release
MIAMI-Â The Miami FC scored 38 goals this season but two have stood out from the rest. Ariel Martinez and Jaime Chavez have been nominated for NASL Goal of the Year.
Martinez's game-winner against FC Edmonton during the Spring Season is the Club's first nominee. Dario Cvitanich played a perfect cross-pitch pass to Martinez who found himself going up against two defenders. A great touch off his chest and a toe poke would see Martinez blow past the opposition and find space at the top of the box. A left-footed stunner would then find the back of the net to put the Miami FC up 1-0. The Orange and Blue would go on to win the match 1-0, the Club's first-ever victory.
The Miami FC's second nominee is Chavez's SportsCenter Top 10 blast. A pinpoint 50-yard pass from Blake Smith found a streaking Jaime Chavez who delivered a perfect volley, rocketing the ball far post and into the back of the net. The amazing strike quickly went viral across the internet after being named No. 1 on SportsCenter's Top 10 and the NASL Play of the Week.
