New Orleans VooDoo News Release

When the New Orleans VooDoo faces off against the Orlando Predators on Sunday, March 13 at the New Orleans Arena, fans can expect an exciting, interactive experience leading up to the game through its conclusion.

The 5-1 VooDoo will be facing the 4-2 Predators in an important Southern Division matchup in a hotly contested division where four of the five teams have only one or two losses. Following five straight victories, including an impressive 53-51 win over the Dallas Desperados on the road last Saturday, the VooDoo currently stand in a first place tie in the Southern Division with the Georgia Force. In a show of respect around the league, they have held the first place ranking in the league's "Power Poll" and the Arena Football Writers Association "Top 8" poll for the past three weeks.

The Predators will pose quite a challenge on the field for the VooDoo, as they are the only Southern Division team that New Orleans has failed to defeat since the start of the franchise. In posting a 10-1 record at the Graveyard, the Predators are the sole black mark on the VooDoo's home record.

In addition to the challenge that Orlando poses to New Orleans, fans will also be able to enjoy the excitement of VooDoo football that has resulted in two of the team's first three home games this season not being decided until the final play of the game; a 62-61 victory over the San Jose SaberCats on Sunday, February 13 and a 48-42 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Storm on Friday, February 25.

Prior to the game, the VooDoo will be honoring the 50 members of the U.S. Air Force Reserve 926th Fighter Support Squadron, which are based out of New Orleans and have recently returned from assignments in Afghanistan. The squadron's senior member, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Fromherz and the squadron will be honored prior the game. Squadron Captain Phillip Lundy will take part in the coin toss.

"We are honored to have these young men and women who so bravely represented our country in attendance as our guest for this Sunday's game," said Saints and VooDoo Owner Tom Benson.

The game will be broadcast live regionally on Cox Sports Television at 2 p.m. CT. Todd Kalas will handle play by play, New Orleans Saints tackle Jon Stinchcomb will serve as a guest color analyst and Tim Fanguy will be the sideline reporter. The contest can also be heard on WSMB 1350-AM. Chris Kenyon will handle play-by-play, WDSU-6 sports director Rich Lenz will serve as guest color analyst and Kenny Wilkerson will be the sideline reporter.
