New Orleans VooDoo News Release

The New Orleans VooDoo have announced today that they have signed DE Henry Bryant and agreed to terms with WR Anthony Hines. Today's moves are part of the club's continuing effort to build a successful team as they return to play in 2007.

"We are very excited about both Henry and Anthony joining the VooDoo," said Head Coach Mike Neu. "They are two guys that in addition to having excellent abilities have outstanding character and leadership abilities, which we value in our locker room."

Bryant (6-0, 250, Kansas State) played for the Austin Wranglers from 2005-2006, making 23 tackles, two tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. On offense, he has rushed 57 times for 141 yards with 11 touchdowns and made six receptions for 52 yards with two touchdowns. In 2006, Bryant appeared in all 16 games with two starts and made 15 tackles, 0.5 tackle for a loss, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed. On offense, he carried 21 times for 54 yards with three touchdowns. At Kansas State, Bryant was a third-team AP All-Big 12 selection as a junior and a senior as he tallied 93 tackles and six sacks.

"We expect Henry to be a major asset to our defense," said Neu "He is a talented defender who has the ability to rush the passer. That ability is at a premium in our league. He brings a winning attitude and playoff experience to our team also."

Hines (5-11, 185, Winston Salem State) is a three-year AFL veteran who immediately bolsters the New Orleans receiving corps after spending the last two seasons with the Grand Rapids Rampage. He was one of the top pass-catchers available on the free agent market this fall. In 2006, Hines enjoyed his finest year as a professional, recording 124 receptions for 1,319 yards with 25 touchdowns, finishing 10th in the AFL in receiving yardage. Last season, Hines produced career bests in all major offensive categories. Defensively, Hines made 11 tackles and a 28-yard interception return for a score. Hines has lead his team in receiving grabs each season, making 271 catches for 3,240 yards with 59 touchdowns.

"We consider Anthony to be on of the top receivers available in free agency this off-season," said Neu. "He possesses an outstanding combination of solid hands and excellent speed, which is important at this position in our game. He is going to have an opportunity to be an impact player for our team."
