Chicago Rush News Release

The ArenaBowl XX champion Chicago Rush began the formation of its 2007 training camp roster with the signings of three rookies - DB Carlos Hendricks, WR Kevin Beard and lineman Robert Boss, the team announced today.

Hendricks (5-11, 190, UAB) agreed to a two-year deal after spending the summer in training camp with the Chicago Bears. Signed in May as an undrafted free agent, Hendricks played in four preseason games with the Bears, recording four tackles. Prior to his time in training camp, the rookie DB enjoyed a solid career at UAB in which he recorded 172 tackles and five interceptions in 46 career games.

Beard (6-1, 192, Miami, FL) signed a three-year contract after spending two seasons playing in af2, including winning the ArenaCup championship with the Spokane Shock earlier this year. In college, Beard was a three-year starter at flanker for the University of Miami, catching 67 passes for 922 yards and seven touchdowns during his Hurricanes career (1999-2003). He was a member of the Hurricanes 2001 team that won the national championship after defeating Nebraska in the 2002 Rose Bowl.

Boss (6-5, 296, Northern Michigan) joins the Rush after spending the 2006 season with the af2's Green Bay Blizzard, where he recorded 22 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 14 games. At Northern Michigan, Boss was a four-year starter, playing both left tackle and defensive end in his career. He signed a three-year contract.

The Rush defeated the Orlando Predators 69-61 in June to capture the ArenaBowl XX title. The win capped an amazing playoff run in which the underdog Rush won three consecutive road games on its way to the championship game.
