New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS (June 6, 2012) - The New Orleans VooDoo were assigned kicker Phil Marfuggi and also activated defensive back Jamaal Fudge from Other League Exempt, announced the team front office on Wednesday morning.
With the assignment of Marfuggi, kicker Matt Denny was placed on reassignment, and with the activation of Fudge, defensive back Jorrick Calvin was also placed on reassignment.
Both Marfuggi and Fudge are former Clemson standouts, with Marfuggi bringing two seasons of experience kicking between the walls to the VooDoo. Marfuggi started this season with the Philadelphia Soul and kicked for the Iowa Barnstormers in 2011.
For his AFL career, Marfuggi is 69 of 87 kicking PATs.
Fudge was assigned to the VooDoo in training camp; however he was placed on other league exempt due to his time spent in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Fudge has also spent time in the NFL, playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2006-08) and Atlanta Falcons (2008-09).
In his 3-plus seasons in the NFL, Fudge had 27 total tackles, 2 pass break ups, and 1 interception.
