Davila, Rattlers Rank First in Poll
June 6, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release
CHICAGO - The Arizona Rattlers (9-3) remain in the number one spot of the AFL Coaches' Poll for the third consecutive week.
Arizona received 11 first place votes after defeating the Pittsburgh Power (2-9), 55-45 in Week 13. The team's offense found the end zone successfully on their first five possessions, with quarterback Nick Davila adding three more touchdown passes in the second quarter.
The San Antonio Talons (8-3) received four first place votes and moved up one place into second in the Coaches' Poll, despite not playing in Week 13. The Talons return from the bye to take on the New Orleans VooDoo (5-6) this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET. They will look to extend the team's winning streak to six games.
Bumping up one spot to third place are the Philadelphia Soul (9-3), who claimed two first place votes in the Coaches' Poll. A record-breaking performance by fullback Derrick Ross led the Soul to a 79-48 victory over the Orlando Predators (1-10) in Week 13. The team's offensive line has not given up a sack in three consecutive games and has allowed just three sacks all season. This Friday, they take on the Milwaukee Mustangs (4-7) in a divisional matchup. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
The San Jose SaberCats (8-4) dropped from two to four in the Poll after a 68-81 loss to the Mustangs in Week 13. This Saturday, they take on the Predators. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.
In the fifth spot for the third consecutive week are the Chicago Rush (7-4). The team was led by quarterback Russ Michna, who set two single-game franchise passing records in the team's 73-62 win over the Spokane Shock (6-5). The Rush travel to Salt Lake City this week for a National Conference matchup with the sixth-ranked Utah Blaze (7-5).
