Volcanoes Top Hotshots

Vancouver Volcanoes News Release

VANCOUVER WASHINGTON--May, 21. Fresh off a win up in Canada against The Titans, a team that defeated The Volcanoes twice in early on in the season, they return home to go up against The Central Oregon Hotshots for the third time-- once again ending in the same outcome.

The scoring was steady and well-rounded, with no player taking dominance. Usual lead scorer, Andrey Murray, injured his hand in Canada and was sitting out. But this didn't prevent The Volcanoes from gaining momentum in offense and defense, ending the half with an 18 point lead. They would go on to finish the game 77 to 111.

Collectively, The Volcanoes were able to shoot 50% or better from the foul line, field goal and 3-point range. And since the three unfortunate losses up in Canada, their record is an impressive seven and one.

"Our record since the first losses is great. We're strong on defense and executing well on offense. We have a championship team here; we're definitely playing at [that] caliber," said head coach, Bryan Hunter.

Fresh back from Romania was Guard Porter Troupe, who scored 10 points and has no false notions of The Volcanoes' ability on the court: " This is the best team I've been on. There's a lot of depth down low. We're hungry. This will definitely be our breakthrough year," he said after taking a few team photos.

The Volcanoes have been able to keep approximately a 20 point spread all three times they've played The Hotshots. Even with impressive leads, they still treat the game like post-season, however, which is important to maintain. The win probably became sealed and locked into place around the start of the third quarter. But these are only times to work on, or perfect, what a championship team is made of.
