Royals win over Hamilton Thunderbirds

In Hamilton, Shaun Valeriote went 3-for-5 to lead the Guelph Royals to a 10-4 win over the Hamilton Thunderbirds. Sean Reilly, Kevin Hinton and Brad Mitchell each added two hits.

Reilly's three run double and Hinton?s two run homer in the seventh inning led to six Guelph runs to blow the game open.

Ryan Hart (1-1) picked up his first win of the season, going 7 2/3 innings and striking out 11. He gave up six hits and walked two.

Hamilton starter David Huscko (0-1) took the loss, allowing only four runs in six innings. Reliever Bill Langford gave up six runs in the seventh in his only inning of work.

Darnell Duckett had two hits for Hamilton and Chris Piano had a two-run triple in the eighth inning.

The win moves Guelph into eighth place with a 2-4 record while Hamilton falls to ninth at 1-4.
