Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Jamie Hodson.
"Jamie brings a tremendous amount of experience with him to our team," noted Vipers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rick Adduono. "He is the type of player who has the capability to carry a team on his shoulders, both on the ice with his play, and in the locker room with his leadership abilities."
The 25-year-old Hodson spent the 2004-05 season in the ECHL as a member of the Fresno Falcons, compiling a record of 18-10-2 with a GAA of just 2.98 in 1812 minutes. He began his professional career in 1997 with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL). A 1998 3rd Round NHL draftee of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he was assigned to the ECHL in 2001 to the South Carolina Stingrays, and again to the Greensboro Generals in both 2002 and 2003. Hodson has spent parts of three seasons with the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League (AHL), and has played briefly with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL.
In both 2002 and 2003, Hodson was selected to back-stop Team Canada as they took the Spengler Cup Championship each year. He teamed up with Cory Hirsch in 2002 and Wade Flaherty in 2003 for the netminding duties in the Canadian victories.
Hodson, a native of Lenore, Manitoba, is 109-90-16 lifetime with eight career shutouts and a GAA of 3.45.
