
Vipers Make Final Roster Moves

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Tennessee Valley Vipers made their final additions and cuts today to complete the 21-man roster.
The Vipers added former Birmingham Steeldog, Ernest Ross and former New York Dragon, Rob Green. Both are expected to compete for a starting spot in the defensive backfield.
Ross played in eight games for the Steeldogs last season as a wide receiver/defensive back. He caught four passes for 57 yards and one touchdown and recorded 19.0 tackles and four pass break ups. He signed with the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League and played in the three games earlier this season for them. He recorded 12.5 tackles and one interception.
Green has been on the active and practice roster for the New York Dragons of the AFL this season. He played college football at Massachusetts and at Nassau Community College. He was a JUCO All-American and rated as the number 3 defensive back by Street and Smith's.
To make room, the Vipers placed Kenny Bailey (foot) and Michael James (finger) on injured reserve. They also cut Nate White (kicker), Demetrius Patterson (defensive specialist) and Ronald Bonner (wide receiver/defensive back). They also traded Wes Counts (quarterback) to Memphis for future considerations.
The Vipers open the 2003 season at Florida Saturday night at 6:30 cst. The home opener is set for Friday, April 11 against the Quad City Steamwheelers. Kickoff is at 7:30. For ticket information, call the Vipers office at (256) 551-3240.
