Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - A pair of Tennessee Valley Raptors have been named to United Indoor Football's 2005 All-Star team.
Raptors wide receiver Luke McArdle was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, while linebacker/defensive end Fernandez Shaw earned a spot as a second-team selection on the defensive line.
"Those guys aren't the only ones on this team that deserved awards, but I'm happy for both of them,'' Raptors coach Dick Adams said. "Luke did it all for us this year and Fernandez was relentless on defense."
McArdle (6-foot, 190 pounds), a former Georgetown star, finished the regular season with 59 receptions for 687 yards and 13 touchdowns, and returned 52 kickoffs for 1,074 yards and three touchdowns with a 20.7 average.
Shaw (6-2, 220), out of Alabama A&M, had 73 tackles, 18.5 for loss and a league second-best 11.5 sacks in 14 games.
The Raptors (7-9) take on the Sioux City Bandits (14-2) on Saturday night in the UIF semifinals at the Tyson Events Center. Kickoff is set for 7:05 and the game can be heard on 730-AM WUMP.
