Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today the signing of veteran left winger David Beauregard.
The 29-year-old Beauregard led the former Port Huron Beacons in scoring last season (47 G, 29 A, 76 Pts.), and finished second in total points, amassing just six fewer than Beacons points leader Aaron Brand (31 G, 51 A, 82 Pts.). His 2004-05 numbers nearly matched his career best 50 goals and 85 points, which he achieved in 2000-01 as a member of the Port Huron Border Cats.
"I'm thrilled to have David back for our first season in Roanoke," said Vipers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rick Adduono. "He will bring the Roanoke fans the kind of excitement they are used to seeing on the ice," Adduono added. "Not only is he a great leader on and off the ice, he is just the type of player that a winning team can be built around, and that is exactly what I am working on doing."
The well-traveled winger has put up 813 total career regular season points, including 455 goals and 358 assists. Beauregard began his career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), and has since played six seasons in the UHL, and one each in the ECHL and Central Hockey League (CHL). His career has also included stints in the International Hockey League (IHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL).
Team co-owner and governor Kristen Dixon was equally excited about the return of the former Beacons star. "David Beauregard is not only a great player, he is an individual who will devote his time to the fans and the community," Dixon said of the signing.
