Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that they will host the third annual Guns and Hoses charity hockey game following their game against the Rockford Ice Hogs on Sunday, March 12th at the Roanoke Civic Center.

The Vipers are offering $5.00 tickets in the goal and center ice sections on March 12th, as the players sport special fire-themed jerseys for the game. Immediately following the game, the game-worn fire jerseys will be sold via live auction to fans with proceeds benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). After the auction, local firefighters and police officers will suit up to play the third annual Guns and Hoses hockey game as the Guns (police officers) take on the Hoses (firefighters).

In addition to the Guns and Hoses festivities, firefighters will be on hand during the Vipers game to "pass the boot" and collect donations from fans to go to the MDA. It will also be Fire Safety Day for the first 500 kids through the gates. Each of the first 500 children will receive a fire safety goody bag, including a helmet, a ruler, fire safety information, evacuation plans for your home, Vipers tattoos, a complimentary copy of Snake Bites, the official Junior Viper Newsletter, and more!

Q99's Dick and Dave will also be on hand for the festivities. One lucky fan's name will be drawn to have "Dinner with Dick and Dave" at ice level during the Vipers game! Come out to the Civic Center to enter for your chance to win a catered dinner with your favorite morning show hosts, while you catch some exciting hockey action!

The puck drops at 5:05p.m. on Sunday, March 12th! Remember that you can get your tickets in advance and avoid the box office lines by calling (540) 345-PUCK (7825). Come out and support this great cause as you cheer on your Vipers and our local heroes!
