Vipers' Fan Favourite Returns

April 18, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Calgary Vipers News Release

The Calgary Vipers have re-signed outfielder Jonny Kaplan for the upcoming 2011 North American League season. Last year the diminutive speedster quickly became a fan favourite with his hard nosed hustle. The 5'8" 175-pounder had a terrific first season in Calgary finishing first in the league in runs scored (85), third in both stolen bases (28) and doubles (26), and also fourth in both triples (6) and total bases (172). The St. Louis, Missouri native is entering his ninth professional season and spent time in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization after being drafted in the 12th round out of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Spring Training for the team will be held at the preseason home of the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale, Arizona at Scottsdale Stadium starting on Saturday May 14th.

Calgary starts the 2011 regular season on the road in Yuma, Arizona on Tuesday May 24th with a double-header against Jose Canseco and the Scorpions.

The Vipers return to Calgary and Foothills Stadium for their home opener on Thursday May 26th at 6:30 PM MDT against their Alberta rivals, the Edmonton Capitals.

Season tickets, flex packs, mini packs, and individual game tickets are available for the 48 game Calgary Vipers' home schedule at Foothills Stadium (2255 Crowchild Trail Northwest, 403-277-2255, www.calgaryvipers.com).
