Vipers and 92.5 FM team up for 2007; Division III All-American Vipers' latest assignee

February 15, 2007 - arenafootball2 (af2) - Alabama Vipers News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Tennessee Valley Vipers have announced that WVNN 92.5 FM will be the team's flagship station for the 2007 arenafootball2 season.

Thom Abraham will provide the play-by-play action and he'll be joined by former Alabama A&M coach and Vipers assistant Ray Greene. All games also will be broadcast on the WVNN 770-AM sister station, and on WUMP 730-AM when not conflicted. Webcasts will be available on both WUMP and WVNN websites.

The Vipers open training camp March 9 and face the Alabama Steeldogs in their season opener March 30 at the Von Braun Center.

Vipers assigned Division III All-American: Tennessee Valley has been assigned Lewis Howes (6-foot-4, 225 pounds), a Division III All-American wide receiver from Capital University. Howes played in 29 games, had 205 receptions for 2,902 yards, and scored 30 touchdowns in his college career. He is the NCAA All-Division record holder for most receiving yards in a game with 17 catches for 418 yards.

"Howes is an outstanding receiver, he's a big man that can run,'' Vipers coach Milt Theodosatos said. "He can go up for the ball and take the ball away from people. He's really a great physical talent and I just hope we can land him. He's got some tryout camps to attend in other leagues so you never know. We wish him the best, but if things don't work out we'll see him March 9."

Coach T's Kids Classic set for April 6: The Tennessee Valley Vipers inaugural Coach T's Kids Golf Classic will take place April 6 at Sunset Landing at the Huntsville International Airport.

The event is sponsored by Fox 54 and WAMY-TV and a portion of the event's proceeds will benefit Coach T's Kids, a Boys and Girls Club scholarship and community activity program founded by Theodosatos.

The event has a 7 a.m. registration and 8 a.m. shotgun start, and will feature a four-man scramble format with a $275 fee per team and $75 charge for individuals. The price includes two mulligans per person, two drink coupons, a goody bag and lunch.

Hole sponsorships are $100 and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places. There will also be drawings for various door prizes.
