Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today the addition of two players - defenseman Rico Fatticci and center Matt Miller - to their 2005-06 roster.
The 5'11", 190-pound Fatticci returns to the Vipers after having a career season in 2005-06 as a member of the Port Huron Beacons, scoring 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) in 77 games. The 24-year-old D-man joined the Beacons for the 2004-05 season after playing just two games with the Kalamazoo Wings. Prior to his United Hockey League career, Fatticci played 44 games in 2003-04 for the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League (CHL). The Hibbing, Minnesota native spent the entire 2002-03 season in the ECHL with the Greenville Grrrowl, and began the 2003-04 season there before moving on to Wichita. Rico began his playing career at Bemidji State University, where he spent two seasons, and from there went on to play two seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL).
"We are really happy to have Rico back with us for the coming season," said Vipers Director of Player Personnel Gary Cook. "He has excellent leadership skills and we will look to him to provide guidance for some of our rookies and younger players."
Miller comes to the Vipers from the Fort William North Stars of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL), where he scored 59 points (25 goals, 34 assists) in 2004-05, and compiled 317 penalty minutes. Cook called Miller "a hard worker and an excellent skater". The 6'0", 200-pound center from Ontario is expected to be a key to the Vipers offense in 2005-06.
Both Fatticci's and Miller's career statistics are included with this release.
